Success Story: Canco Cranes & Equipment Ltd.


Sage Business Partner, Plus Computer Solutions enhances data integrity and security by integrating Process Scheduler to Canco Cranes’ Sage 300 ERP system.

Burnaby, British Columbia — April 27th, 2012 - Canco Cranes is a leading manufacturer of overhead cranes and material handling equipment. For more than 35 years, the North Vancouver Company has been engineering, building, installing, and servicing equipment for customers around the world. For more than a decade, Canco Cranes has relied on one ERP solution – Sage 300 ERP (formerly Sage ERP Accpac) expertly supported by Plus Computer Solutions.

Recently, Plus Computer Solutions implemented Process Scheduler from Orchid Systems. The add-on solution for Sage 300 ERP enables Canco Cranes to schedule when its ERP data is checked and backed up and to schedule the automation of other processes, such as General Ledger consolidation exports and imports. In addition, Process Scheduler maximizes system resource usage by enabling the company to perform these tasks automatically while the system is not being used. “Process Scheduler has worked really well for us,” says Craig Hammond, sales rep for Canco Cranes. “It gives us a great deal of confidence in the integrity and security of our data.”

Sage 300 ERP is delivering the value the company has come to expect from Sage software solutions. “We are getting very good value out of our Sage 300 ERP system,” concludes Hammond. “It saves us time and helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of our data. I feel that the software has definitely paid for itself and is now delivering a measurable return on our investment.”

Bob Scott’s Insights Names the 2011 VAR Stars

Middletown, NJ – Progressive Media Group’s Bob Scott’s Insights (www.BobScottsInsights.com) has selected Plus Computer Solutions as a winner of  its 2011 VAR Stars award. One hundred resellers are selected each year for this honor.

2011 VAR Stars have a practice involving the sale of mid-market financial software and while most derive significant revenue from other sources, accounting software is the core to their business.

Revenue is not a factor in selection and VARs are not rated. The No. 1 and No. 100 members of this list have equal standing. Factors taken into consideration included growth, industry leadership and innovation. There are very large and very small dealers in this list. An effort was also made to selects resellers who represent a broad range of products.

This year, VAR Star candidates were asked what they have done to respond to the economic conditions. Several common areas emerged from those VARs who commented (not all provided this information.) Few of these were surprising, but all are important.

They are as follows:

  • Diversifying product lines.
  • Holding onto talent.
  • Maintaining or increasing marketing budgets.
  • Performing mergers and acquisition.

Bob Scott’s Insights provides the mid-market reselling community with news and analysis giving them insight into the issues that affect the business of resellers and vendors alike. Plus Computer Solutions Fuels Success For PLH Aviation Services

Plus is happy to announce the release of our latest ERP success story.

Plus Computer Solutions has implemented a long-term scalable business management solution based on Sage ERP Accpac for PLH Aviation Services, a successful corporation specializing in the management of airport refueling operations. Plus Computer Solutions is a premier Sage Authorized Partner specializing in the Sage ERP Accpac and SageCRM family of products.

PLH Aviation Services chose Sage ERP Accpac as its business management solution shortly after its inception in 1988, and engaged Plus Computer Solutions as its business partner in 2000. Over years of expansive growth, the solution has scaled to meet the needs of PLH Aviation, adapting to its changing demands.

Glen Mund, president of Plus Computer Solutions, said: “While the typical company changes business management software every seven years, PLH Aviation has been able to leverage its technology investment over decades, saving countless dollars in conversion costs. Celebrating 20 years in Business

This year marks an important milestone for Plus Computer Solutions as we celebrate our 20th anniversary. This 20 year milestone gives us a chance to reflect on our past achievements and highlights as we envision the road ahead for Plus.


20th Anniversary

Honoring the past:

In a world of globalization, where everything and everyone seems to be within six Facebook friends of separation, we at Plus find it hard to imagine how we managed in those early days where we once operated without email, cell phones or wireless devices. 

1991 was quite the year to look back on. During that year:

  • A pack of 5.25 floppy disks sold for $29.99 in 1991, now you can find a pack on eBay for around $4.99
  • Apple released their Macintosh powerbook 100, which sold for $2,500 USD
  • 100 million personal computers were shipped in 1991, in comparison to over a billion in 2010
  • Our Prospect Marketing Coordinator Lisa Toner was 3 years old
  • Business was conducted with pagers, phone booths, and fax machines.
  • Terminator 2 hit #1 in the box office and earned $204 million
  • (Everything I do) I do it for you by Brian Adams was the #1 song

Mitch McNicol, Sales Manager at Plus, reflects back to his early days of working at Plus and how data repairs and technical support were originally accomplished. “In the early days of working at Plus, we used to have one of our consultants or even a courier pick up and drop off floppy disks for data repair. We used to have a stack of floppy disk on our desk waiting for data repair.” says Mitch McNicol.

The daily operations at Plus relied heavily on phone, faxes and couriers, with all consulting and software upgrades conducted onsite, communications with consultants on the road were accomplished via pagers and telephone booths.  Like many businesses, our company embraced and invested in technology as it became readily available.

Wendy Gorrie, General Manager, a look at the past:

Our appointment booking procedure used to consist of customers calling the office, the consulting schedule consisted of a hair appointment style book, a pencil and eraser. 

The tools of our trade have changed significantly since my beginnings at Plus, where the height of technology was a pager a package of 3.5” disks and a phone booth.  Now we are able to connect to our customers anywhere using anything from traditional telephone to Ipad’s.  Transferring data is as easy as plugging in a portable thumb drive, the days of going for lunch while our Lotus 123 worksheet recalculated on the 286 with 64 mb of ram are gone.

During the past 20 years Plus has been a winner of the prestigious Accpac International Dealer of the Year award in 1995, 1997, 1998 and 1999 and  reaching  the Sage Presidents Circle in 2006 and 2007.

Present:

This past year has been a year of many accomplishments and achievement for Plus. We have once again celebrated earning top awards in our industry with the 2010 Accounting Technology Pacesetter Award, 2010 Var Stars, Altec Partner Excellence Award and CDN Channel Elite Awards Finalist. Plus was also named “Best in Class” Partner by Sage, qualified for Sage’s 2010 “President’s Circle,” Maintained Top 10 NPS Scores in North America, and received an A+ from the Better Business Bureau.

By partnering with companies over the years to uncover issues and areas where Plus solutions can add value, Plus utilized its staff expertise in our affiliate network and new avenues for clients to access its services. Additionally, Plus’ evolution to the social media realm has provided existing and potential customers with immediate information on company events and new services.

Plus continually adds updated versions and support features. Just in time for our 20th anniversary, the company added our client centre to our support infrastructure.  Our Client Centre was introduced to service current customers through the process of logging tech support cases, checking case history,  updating TSP contracts and answering questions customers may have along the way.

This is also the year that marks the official launch of Sage ERP Accpac 6.0, the first in a series of releases that will transform the software into a fully web-based interface. While Accpac was originally developed to be an on-premise application, Sage is now working towards transforming it into a completely web-based product.

The Future:

(TSXV: TAU), a growth company focused on the exploration and discovery of precious and base metals. As a company with an aggressive growth trajectory, TintinaGold sought a scalable, powerful ERP solution that would sustain its current operations and support its future expansion. Plus Computer Solutions today announced another successful implementation of SageCRM, this time for PNI Digital Media, the leading innovator of online and in-store digital media solutions for major retailers. PNI Digital Media enables on-demand production of personalized products using consumer-generated media. The PNI Digital Media Platform enables consumers to easily order photo prints, personalized gifts, business printing collateral, stationery, and more. Plus Computer Solutions is a premier Sage Authorized Partner specializing in the SageCRM and Sage ERP Accpac family of products.

PNI Digital Media sought to centralize the administration of its trouble tickets and support calls. It evaluated several customer relationship management (CRM) systems before deciding on SageCRM.

For the third year running, Plus Computer Solutions was chosen by the editors of Accounting Technology as a Technology Pacesetter. And, for the second year in a row, the company has been selected as a member of the 2010 VAR Stars, an annual listing published by Bob Scott’s Insights, a publication of the Progressive Media Group.

Accounting Today magazine awards the Technology Pacesetter award annually to 100 organizations that market financial midmarket applications. Plus Hosts 3rd Annual Business Success Conference

Customers of Plus Computer Solutions from across British Columbia gathered this week in Burnaby, BC for Plus’ 3rd Annual Business Success Conference. As always, the gathering was an opportunity for networking and learning, the road ahead for Sage, and the capabilities to strengthen one’s own personal and professional skills via presentations, interacting with staff and networking.

This year’s conference deliberations were informed by a number of high profile guests such as Robert Johnson from Sage, author of the book “Kick Your Own Ass,” Robert Lavery from Robert Lavery and Associates, and Neil Sorensen from Stonefield Query, just to name a few. While numerous sessions were devoted to Business related topics, a central topic generating sustained interest from customers was – “The road ahead with Sage ERP Accpac v 6.0.”  Erik Kaas from Sage touched on the vision and direction for Sage ERP Accpac v 6.0 and its capabilities of delivering an overall better user experience and lower total cost of ownership.

Overall, the conference was a huge success and many important topics were presented in front of a large audience. The caliber of presenters at our conference was remarkable and many new ideas were mentioned regarding Customer Loyalty and Business Intelligence. The audience was greatly invested in the tips and tricks session held by our own Bonnie Wittmeier, and many important inquires into the speaker’s topics were discussed. More than 80 people attended this all day event and the team at Plus are already in preparation to make next years' event even bigger and better!
