Irish Suffers from Serious Case of Canucks Fever

With all of the sadness going around Vancouver I wanted to tak
e this chance to write a more light-hearted, less ‘techy’ blog article. I immigrated to Canada last August from Ireland and am shocked at how immersed in the ice hockey I have become. We don’t have ice hockey in Ireland so even though I’m still not fully clued in as to what an icing call is, I know it’s not good if it’s against the Canucks. I also know that offside is not quite the same as offside in a soccer match and it took me long enough to grasp that one! They allow fighting on the ice, and the harder you try to knock someone out cold against the glass, the better a player you are!
I have been watching every game in the playoffs on the edge of my seat. I got myself a canucks t-shirt (as the jerseys are not only way out of my budget but also not so flattering) very early on so I am confident to say I am not a band wagoner!
So I am writing this to express how deeply proud I feel of the team. They fought so hard to get to where they did. They showed honor and dignity (besides that small finger-biting incident) and I welled up as I watched them on Wednesday. I hope that they are as proud of themselves as I am and as all of Canada should be.
Sage ERP Accpac is great, but some things are more important, like national pride. And although I am not YET a Canadian citizen, I still feel like I am a Canuck, through and through.
GO CANUCKS GO!
