How to fight back during this crazy recession - Plus Computers

To the surprise of no one who knows him, Duct Tape Marketing guru John Jantsch has come up with his own plan for stimulating the nation's entrepreneurial economy. It's called Make-a-Referral Week, and it takes place March 9-13.

The goal of the event, Jantsch says, is to generate 1,000 referred leads to 1,000 small businesses to showcase both the power of referrals and the power of small business in the nation's economy.

This week-long virtual event also will feature daily educational programs that show small-business owners how to put referral marketing to work for them. The featured topics include strategic partnering, face-to-face networking, low-cost referral strategies, using social media, word-of-mouth marketing strategies, creating customer evangelists, personal branding, and more.

Sign up to pledge to make at least one referral. You'll get email reminders about the week's events. You can also share the details about a referral you've made. Every day, the best referral of the day will be chosen and both businesses involved will win books from referral experts.

In addition, the Duct Tape Marketing Coach Network will host Make-a-Referral Week Meet-Ups throughout North America during the week. These "offline" meetings will offer networking opportunities in conjunction with the online educational programs.

Personally, I've always found referrals the No. 1 way to get new business. If you're not already using them to grow your business, Make-a-Referral Week can show you how. Even if you are, you're likely to learn something new.
